And why the hell am I still a newbie???
I've been visiting this site for over three years now!
the february 14, 2004, issue of the age contains an interesting interview with broadcaster kate langbroek.
this lady was one of jehovah's witnesses: "acceptance by them is conditional upon you remaining a jehovah's witness.
i don't have any friends who are witnesses now because i left.".

minimus started a great thread a few days ago asking what was "it" that finally made you leave the "truth"?.
the replies showed that, for the most part, it was the unloving, uncaring attitude displayed by most of the 'brothers & sisters' - elders particularly.
some posters even made the point that this lack of love drove them out despite them harbouring fears that they might actually be leaving the truth.
I think there are two types of JW's.
The ones were doctine is really important. These are the ones that like to understand why the society writes the things it does.
The other type just accept whatever doctrine they are fed. What's important to them is the social aspect of the religion.

can we still call god, jehovah.
ok stupid question but i really want to know
I don't really believe in a personal god anymore. I tend to think of god as some sort of force. Not really sure how to define it, but I definitely believe in the spiritual and I thing there is some link between the physical and the spiritual. I feel we all have that connection to the spiritual, but some are more attuned to it than others.

take a good look at the new 2004 watchtower calendar and compare it with any other calendar you receive.. it's tiny ( old folks can barely read the print).
it's only eight pages - with the months doubled up on each page.. .
now, tell me how god is wonderfully expanding this organization, amidst frequent appeals for more contributions!.
I always felt guilty about having a "worldly" calender in my bedroom instead of the societies one. I usually liked to have something that inspired me hanging on the wall. But the societies calendar was just boring and lame as hell. The later ones reminded me of christian or biblical artwork that catholics used to hang up in their houses.
I usually had a LoTR or Star Trek calendar. Would have loved to have one with bikini clad girls but I think that was out of the question in my house.

anyone owned one?
sens is looking at one that has a "funny" transmission.
i was talking to a friend who owns one here in oz, she also has had two in canada (she's a recent import) she said that compared to other cars, the autos are a bit different, probably because of the higher revving engine in the little sports car.
See sens? It's not just me that thinks you should get a manual transmission.
